Towards Inclusion in Spanish Higher Education: Understanding the Relationship between Identification and Discrimination

It is more and evident that there diversity among university students, but this encompasses a wide variety of personal characteristics that, on occasion, may be subject to rejection or discrimination. The feeling inequality the result one stand‐alone characteristic an intersection many. To widen our knowledge able design actions with inclusive approach, we have set out explore relationship between students’ feelings discrimination, their group identification intersections. Participants for study are selected from protected groups which fall into following criteria: ethnic minority, illness, migrant disability, linguistic sexual orientation, income, political ideology, gender, age religion. We will refer as ‘discrimination rate.’ fulfil objective, given questionnaire sample 2,553 students eight Spanish universities. results indicate they most identify religion, age, sex ideology. However, highest rate discrimination linked ideology migration. Regarding intersectionality, it worth noting 16.6% feel discriminated against than characteristic, frequent relationships being following: (1) minorities (2) sex, under 30, leftist low minority (3) Christian Catholic, right‐wing upper‐class
